Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you’re moving long-distance or locally in the Phoenix area, we’ll do our best to make your move as seamless and stress-free as possible. Check out our Frequently Asked Questions below for more information about our moving and packing services here at Sterling Interstate.
How long have you been moving?
Our core group of seasoned movers have been working together for years, and have orchestrated thousands of moves.
Do you require a deposit?
No, we do not require a deposit for our moving or packing services. In order to book a move, we just require a loading and unloading address along with a good contact number to book your date and time.
We always check in the day before the move. If your move begins in the afternoon, our crew will make sure to keep in touch throughout the morning by your preferred method of contact, to ensure punctual arrival.
How much does moving cost?
The total price of the move can vary from job to job. If you have a large home or are moving to/from a building with a long walk or that requires movers to use the elevator, you could expect it will take more time.
At Sterling Interstate, we don’t nickel and dime, and don’t have any hidden moving costs.
Is Sterling Interstate an insured moving company?
Yes, we carry insurance which exceeds industry standards. Regardless, our team of movers always err on the side of caution to ensure a smooth move and stress-free experience.
Do you subcontract my move out to other companies?
We never subcontract out your move to another company. When you decide to move forward with us, we take that trust seriously. We operate every move in-house with our professional staff of trained movers.
Do you mix our belongings in with those of other clients during long distance moves?
At Sterling Interstate, we specialize in dedicated moves. That means we dedicate a truck for each move, along with the same Sterling Interstate employees from the beginning of your move till you’re all settled in.
What types of boxes should I use to pack my home?
It’s important to use the right box for each packing job. Heavy items should be boxed in small boxes, and light items should be boxed in large boxes. It’s important to note that fragile china, glass, dishes can make a “dish pack” overly heavy. Ideally, fragile items should be packed in small boxes that can be safely loaded into the attic of the truck, away from the rest of the load. Similarly, books should always be packed in small boxes.

Do you provide packing services?
Yes, we’d be happy to either assist in packing or take care of all your packing needs. We understand moving can be stressful! Let our experienced staff of packers carefully box your home, so you don’t have to.
If you need help finding a reliable cleaning company, please check out our sister company, Sterling Professional Cleaning Services, for your move in/move out cleanings.
Is it alright to leave my dressers full?
If the dressers are made of particle board, we would advise against keeping the drawers full. If your furniture is sturdy and built to last, then it’s alright to leave soft items that are not fragile inside the dresser.
Often during moves, long dressers are required to be stood up on their end to make sharp turns down hallways or stairwells. With that in mind, please do not fill drawers with fragile items or items that are small and may fall between drawer and drawer casing.
How do you secure dresser drawers or hutch doors?
We shrink-wrap and blanket every item during the move before transport, to ensure your belongings arrive in the same condition as when they were picked up.
Do you provide wardrobe boxes to move our clothes?
We’re happy to bring wardrobe boxes on moving day to move your clothes, as long as we have advance notice for this request. We will even help load and unload them so that we can get the large wardrobe boxes out of your new home, at no additional cost for the boxes.
